Here is a list of rumors about hidden secrets that may be able to be accomplished/obtained in Final Fantasy 8. Most or all of these are not true, they are just rumors.
Acquiring the Griever GF
Some people have said that you can aquire the Griever GF (the one Ultimecia uses in the final battle). I'm pretty certain that this can't be done.
Cloud Strife
There are several rumors about appearances of Cloud Strife (the hero from Final Fantasy 7) appearing in FF8, most of which involve him entering a battle and performing an Omnislash. The only evidence the staff of Final Fantasy Force has seen on this is that there is a "Cloud's Shop" in Esthar.
Returning to towns in disc 4
I have heard you can do this somehow using trains. Again, I really don't think there is any truth behind this.
